Can a noise reduction unit be used to reduce background noise from a mic at the moment of recording?
I’ve got an old Noise Reduction Unit used to remove background noise when transferring records to tapes. Can a noise reduction unit be used to reduce background noise from a mic at the moment of recording?
Here is some information:
TEAC AN-60W
NOISE REDUCTION UNIT
100-240VAC, 50/60Hz, 2.5W
The Teac appears to be a Dolby encoder/decoder unit (which I am unfamilar with). Microphone levels and phonograph levels are probably not all that different (both go through a preamp), but the EQ curve is sure to be different. Give it a try, the worst that can happen is that it doesn’t work or sounds funny. You will need the Teac to also play back the recorded sound properly. By the way, the Teac is mentioned in the link enclosed.
