I have a Philips HDR312 TiVo, will I still need a converter box when over the air goes all digital in Feb?

I have a Philips HDR312 TiVo with lifetime service. I only have an antenna hooked up to it so I only get 6 or so channels but still plenty to record my favorite shows. I’m wondering if I will still need a converter box when over the air signals switch to all digital signals in February 2009 or if the TiVo box will handle that transition even though this is a kind of old model of Tivo.

That TiVo has only an analog tuner, so in effect you would need a convertor box for it.

Unfortunately to properly support the digital antenna convertor boxes, TiVo would have to update the system software, and they are just not doing that for Series 1s anymore.

There are workarounds to use them, which basically involve setting up as satellite, and using a similar IR code.

TiVo might have an upgrade offer for Series 1 Antenna Product Lifetime subscribers. If your Product Lifetime was purchased before January 20,2000, you can transfer it to a new TiVo fro free. A TiVo HD will be what you want, as it has digital tuners.
